Oracle (Aldrich 6am Group) 5/23/20 – Tater Tot – (Lean On Me)

F3Omaha (Aldrich 6am Group) 5/23/20 – Tater Tot – (Lean On Me)

Morning! It was the first decently warm morning of the spring we have had in quite sometime and man was it welcomed.  Temperatures were in the low 60’s but the humidity felt like 1000% which is just how Tater Tot likes it.  Sweatfest.  Slow Pitch and Tater did a little pre scout that turned into a pre run (whoops, sorry Slow Pitch).  Nine PAX  gathered at the flags as the sun was starting to smile on this holiday Memorial Day Weekend.  Tater Tot gave the mission statement, let the PAX know to modify (you would need it) and we were quickly off for a short mosey which was the calm before a breathtaking beatdown.

The PAX: Khakis (Respect), Grillz, Bubbles (love), Two-Step, Sparty, Rancid (hate), Slow Pitch, LeDoux and Tater Tot

6:05 am – Warm – a – Rama (It should be noted the concrete near the Aldrich playground is horrible on the hands…)

  • 20 Side Straddle Hop IC
  • 10 Tappy Taps IC
  • 20 Copperhead Squats IC
  • 20 Shoulder Taps
  • 20 Mountain Climbers
  • 20 Merkins on your down

6:10am Pre-Thang – 4 Minutes of Lean On Me –  (We found a very comfortable wall at the school and turned on the original version of “Lean on me” written and performed by Bill Withers who recently died this March of 2020.  As we pressed against the wall Tater Tot went one by one telling each PAX that he loved them and hoped he would hear a response.  Some were quick to respond while holding their balls to the wall, others, not so quickly..  We finished and went for a ½ mile mosey to our next stop.

  • Wall Sit (1 minute)
  • Balls to the Wall (1 minute)
  • Wall Sit (1 minute)
  • Balls to the Wall (1 minute)

6:15am ½ Mile Mosey to The Thang – Tater loves a good mosey.  It allows the PAX to take a little time to connect while they aren’t sucking wind.  The sound of the chatter in the gloom is something special.

6:20am The Thang – We arrived and greeted a lonely orange cone at a bridge that is near the Monday Murph pullup bars.  PAX were slowly given instructions in order to catch their breath for what was about to take place.  Two groups were split evenly(ish).  Tater Tot had scouted this area and timing of the exercises and run return prior but you just never know how it will really work out.  We soon found out, it was more painful than expected and the timing was as perfect a booming symphony.  So much love and so much hate all in one moment.

Group 1) Silent Run – Run over bridge switching a lead runner each time and make your way through a dirt trail splitting the beautiful Bluestem Prairie Preserve to the top of the hill to a cone – Silence, take in the morning sunrise, think about those that you lean on or who lead on you, notice the colors, the sounds, the peacefulness, take a few deep breaths and head back down to relieve the other group. Truth be told there were two words spoken during the silent run. The F-bomb followed up by a whispered “Sorry”. Smiles were had.

Group 2) Completing Exercises listed (10 Count in between exercises) while other group is running in silence. Round 1, Run, Round 2, Run, Round 1, Run, Round 2.

Round 1) After each exercise give a 10 count

  • 25 Jump Tucks
  • 25 Jump Squats
  • 15 Burpees
  • Chillcut hold until group returns if done with burpees

Round 2) After each exercise give a 10 count

  • 25 Merkins
  • 25 Werkins
  • 15 Burpees
  • Chillcut hold until group returns if done with burpees

Omaha was called at 6:40am and there was an honest sense of relief.  A true compliment to the Q.

6:41am ½ Mile Mosey back to flags – This was a recovery run.  You could tell it was a grind to make it back to the flags in one piece but again there was chatter, connections, relationships being strengthened.

6:47am Mary – Lean On Me Tater explained that we started the workout listening to “Lean on me” while telling each other they loved one another.  This time we would listen again but in silence.  We would take the time to really concentrate on who we lean on in life and who we could reach out to and call to connect, strengthen a relationship, help someone that might be in need.  Listen.

  • Chillcut Plank Hold for about 1 minute
  • Plank Hold for about 1 minute

(Rinse and Repeat until song is complete)

  • While we blared “Ain’t No Sunshine” Khakis was asked to take us home American Hammer.  He chose 50 IC.  Ugh.

6:55am COT Message: (Lean On Me) Tater Tot asked the group to share any prayer requests or any announcements. Prayers were given. Specific prayers to Hard Hat and his M. PAX were asked to take the time to lean on to others they love and make the effort in these relationships. Never underestimate the power of listening. The power of reaching out. The power of being in the moment with an open heart and open mind.

7:00 am Dismiss PAX –Tater fully intended to finish at 6:55amin order to give the PAX a chance to say to the 7:00am group arriving as well as a breather for those that would stupidly choose to do a second beatdown immediately following.  That didn’t happen.  The Big One shamed Tater Tot publicly for not finishing on time and held up the start of his beatdown.  This will be improved.  Until then, love on others and love yourself.

Lean On Me” (Written and recorded by American Singer Bill Withers and was released April of 1972. Listen to the words. They are powerful and exemplify what F3 is all about)

Sometimes in our lives we all have pain

We all have sorrow

But if we are wise

We know that there’s always tomorrow

Lean on me, when you’re not strong

And I’ll be your friend

I’ll help you carry on

For it won’t be long

‘Til I’m gonna need

Somebody to lean on

Please swallow your pride

If I have things you need to borrow

For no one can fill those of your needs

That you won’t let show

You just call on me brother, when you need a hand

We all need somebody to lean on

I just might have a problem that you’ll understand

We all need somebody to lean on

Lean on me, when you’re not strong

And I’ll be your friend

I’ll help you carry on

For it won’t be long

‘Til I’m gonna need

Somebody to lean on

You just call on me brother, when you need a hand

We all need somebody to lean on

I just might have a problem that you’ll understand

We all need somebody to lean on

If there is a load you have to bear

That you can’t carry

I’m right up the road

I’ll share your load

If you just call me (call me)

If you need a friend (call me) call me uh huh (call me) if you need a friend (call me)

If you ever need a friend (call me)
