Swinger welcomed the PAX, gave the mission statement, 5 core principles and the disclaimer.

Warm-A-Rama:

Swinger demoed an exercise dubbed Merkin-TP. Using play-swing set as TRX bands, placed feet on swing seat and held planked. Merkin down and up to plank, immediately into “pike” position or “TeePee” reverse out of pike into starting position plank; one rep. A modification was given: merkin, into “down dog” back to plank; one rep.

The PAX moseyed from the playground to the stage.

  • The PAX then attempted 2 x 2 Indian Run to Roast coffee shop but was foiled due to trees, park cars, moving cars, and 2 female runners going against the grain. PAX held Al Gore until 6 was in.
  • Werewolf/ Moon stretch with twist x 3
  • Sungods x 10 IC (F/B)
  • The PAX kept the run going through Parking Garage to Ak-Sarben Dr. back to the stage. Plank was held until the 6 was is.

T-claps to Ponzi and Huffy for their unselfishness.

The THANG:

Swinger, divided The PAX into 3 foursomes and 1 fivesome. While still keeping the PAX in a circle on stage, 10 Bonnie Blairs IC followed by 3 burpees (oyo) plank til 6 was in plank position, a 10 second countdown began starting with Q and then passed to the next PAX member clockwise for another 10 second countdown and finally a third 10 second countdown while holding plank, total 30 seconds. This would be the routine after every exercise listed below. Starting with the second exercise, the first foursome was excused to run to swingset, were they each performed 10 Merkin-TPs and 5 Coupon Burpees. Al Gore was held for the 6 and the foursome ran together back to stage to excuse the 2nd foursome. So on and so forth. Stage Exercises (with the burpees and plank as aforementioned)

CoT:

Music from the Vermont band PHISH was played throughout the morning gloom (see setlist below). PHISH is well known for long drawn out scripted and non scripted instrumental jams. Swinger described how PHISH’s lighting visuals guy dubbed it “The Tension” for the somewhat anxiety these long jams give him because he must anticipate if they go up/ down/ left/ right. Swinger proposed that “The Tension” could equate to our day-in and day-out grind. If you hang onto every little note they play, it will be exhausting and more than likely keep one from engaging. To avoid this, go with the flow of the band and expend energy during the hook into the crescendo. Akin to the little stress-ers that come up throughout the day. If we give into them, chances are we are wiped when it comes time to praise and rejoice positively with friends and family. Don’t waste time and energy over every little detail. 

Lastly, Swinger thinks it’s a good idea to NOT be a dick. It’s way too easy. Why do you think “shit rolls down hill?” It takes courage to compliment others and be nice and it can be hard, very hard to lift someone up and/or step aside and lift them above yourself. Swinger challenged PAX to give 3 compliments today.
