Conditions: Sun beautifully rising over the luscious fields on an idyllic morning. You could almost hear the choir of angels singing, except for the pain that was about to be doled out.
YHC welcomed the Pax to the beautiful, not so gloomy, morning. The mission and disclaimer was supplied and Pax were encouraged to give in to some suffering today.
The pax moseyed to basketball court to begin the suffer fest. The Warm-a-rama went as expected even if the steel blades (Down under cousin to Blades of Steel) elicited some strange reactions.

David Brooks – NY Times Article – What Suffering Does
“People shoot for happiness but feel formed through suffering.”
“The right response to this sort of pain is not pleasure. It’s holiness. I don’t even mean that in a purely religious sense. It means seeing life as a moral drama, placing the hard experiences in a moral context and trying to redeem something bad by turning it into something sacred.”
“Recovering from suffering is not like recovering from a disease. Many people don’t come out healed; they come out different. They crash through the logic of individual utility and behave paradoxically. Instead of recoiling from the sorts of loving commitments that almost always involve suffering, they throw themselves more deeply into them. Even while experiencing the worst and most lacerating consequences, some people double down on vulnerability. They hurl themselves deeper and gratefully into their art, loved ones and commitments.”
When you experience suffering be changed by it. Even the really hard stuff and throw yourself into the caring for others!
The Pit opens for business on 7/20. EH everyone you know in Papillion.
Lemon Law is accelerating while getting very little sleep. Keep him and other fathers of young ones in your thoughts and prayers.
His brother is also facing some very unique challenges. Pray for him as well.
Always proud to be part of this group
